In 1958, Gibson launched the Les Paul Standard with a striking Cherry Sunburst finish, replacing the previous gold top design. The original finish's sensitivity to light resulted in a spectrum of unique sunburst hues, a characteristic faithfully recreated in the 2018 Historic Collection. This reissue includes four hand-selected sunburst variations, each showcasing the top's figured maple.
Compared to the 1959 models, the 1958 reissues feature slightly beefier, more robust neck profiles—a perfect fit for players who appreciate a fuller grip. The inclusion of True Historic-spec parts and narrow/tall frets enhances both tone and authenticity.
