Martin D-18 1955 CFM IV 70th – Limited Edition Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
Crafted to honor the 70th birthday of C.F. Martin IV, the D-18 1955 CFM IV 70th is a stunning limited-edition tribute inspired by an original 1955 D-18 recently acquired from the famed Skip Maggiora collection. Bearing the serial number 144636, the vintage model that served as inspiration shows authentic playwear that contributes to its legacy—a legacy that’s been respectfully reimagined in this anniversary edition. The D-18 1955 features a Dreadnought body with a gloss finish, constructed with mahogany back and sides, and topped with reclaimed spruce salvaged from historic logging operations in Alaska. This marks Martin’s first use of this unique, sustainably sourced spruce.
Its rearward-shifted, non-scalloped Sitka spruce X-bracing enhances responsiveness and treble clarity. Paired with a satin-finished select hardwood neck shaped to a GE Modified Low Oval profile, this guitar promises both vintage vibe and modern playability. Additional details include an FSC®-certified rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl 1955 Style 18 inlays, Kluson® Vintage Waffleback® tuners, a faux tortoise pickguard, and a signed commemorative label from Chris Martin IV. Only 70 guitars are being released worldwide—an heirloom of tone, craftsmanship, and history.
