Gibson M6 (6-string) Mandolin, 2005, Cherry Sunburst USED 020

Built in Nashville in 2005, this mandolin has a carved spruce top, carved maple back and sides, with a cherry sunburst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The neck is mahogany and the fretboard and bridge are ebony. Hard Shell Case included.

The concept of a mandolin body tuned like a high-pitched guitar did not exactly catch fire in the Nashville scene. Gibson stopped the production just two years from its first release.

Around 1900, Orville Gibson created this “A” style mandolin.  It was a simple round teardrop shape profile to the body and a simple plain peg head. The period from 1910 thru 1930 has come to be regarded as the Golden Age of American stringed instrument manufacturing.
