The Gibson Southern Jumbo Original acoustic-electric guitar delivers warm, balanced tone and comfortable playability. Its solid red spruce top provides shimmering highs and tight lows, while mahogany back and sides generate a lush midrange. The mahogany neck has a traditional profile and smooth rosewood fingerboard, allowing fluid movement across 24 frets. On-board Fishman electronics let you plug in and amplify your acoustic sound with studio-quality results. Whether recording or performing, the Gibson Southern Jumbo Original satisfies with full-bodied unamplified tone and natural-sounding amplification.

Resonant Red Spruce Top

The red spruce top is hand-selected for impressive resonance and clarity. Its fine, even grain produces balanced articulation across the tonal spectrum. Red spruce is also lightweight and responsive, freely vibrating to create shimmering harmonic overtones and a wide dynamic range. When playing, you'll enjoy how the red spruce top translates your touch into vibrant, nuanced tone.

Warm Mahogany Back and Sides

The mahogany back and sides generate warmth and midrange focus. Mahogany's density adds sustain and projection, complementing the red spruce top. Together, these tonewoods create an instrument with rich voice and balanced frequency response. Whether strumming chords or plucking melodies, the mahogany back and sides help each note ring through with fullness and depth.

Traditional Neck Profile with Rosewood Fingerboard

The mahogany neck has a rounded profile for comfortable fretting. Its rosewood fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface, with pearl parallelogram inlays for visual appeal. A 24-fret design gives you ample room for chords and solos. The neck's traditional construction and wood choice produce sustain and warmth, keeping your tone consistent up and down the fingerboard.

L.R. Baggs Anthem System Provides Natural Amplification

When plugging in the Gibson Southern Jumbo Original, its L.R. Baggs Anthem electronics system delivers an authentic acoustic tone. The Anthem pickup captures the nuances of the guitar's sound and dynamics. Controls for volume, EQ and an onboard tuner give you flexibility in shaping your amplified tone. The Anthem system's fidelity and simplicity help the SJ-200 Standard excel on stage or in the studio.
