Description
The original prototypical concept of Fender's famous offset electric is alive and well in this absolutely stunning Custom Shop LTD '59 Jazzmaster.
Ripe with first-year features like an Ash body, anodized gold pickguard, and slab Rosewood fingerboard, the aesthetic is masterfully executed. The black pickup covers reference the prototype feature found in some of the first 1958 builds and present and wonderful contrast against the guard while playing off of the dark fingerboard and two-tone Sunburst finish.
In a welcome and unique twist, Fender Custom Shop utilized the RSD J-Bridge in this LTD build, which combines elements of the original Jazzmaster bridge design with the Telecaster brass barrel saddles. Tonally, we find this bridge to offer a slightly softer attack but with a stronger fundamental and more acoustic resonance. Contact points are also strengthened here, which has always been a point of contention with original Jazzmaster bridges.
The early 60s neck profile and compound radius introduce enhanced playability with a comfortable and familiar feel, satisfying both vintage purists and modern-spec fans alike. Combine that with a set of incredible Hand-wound Vintage Jazzmaster pickups, and you've got one of the most capable and versatile offsets on the market.
There's no denying that Fender is doing some of their best work these days, and this Jazzmaster is such a fantastic example of that.
